Selsun Shampoo is a medicated shampoo used to treat dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp. It helps control itching and scaling by slowing down the growth of the skin cell layers on the scalp and reducing greasiness. Selenium sulphide also specifically destroys a certain type of fungi called dermatophytes including Pityrosporum orbiculare that can cause small patches of skin to become scaly and discoloured.
This a common skin condition known as pityriasis versicolor or sometimes tinea versicolor.
Adults and the elderly, children over 5 years: Apply and leave for 2 to 3 minutes.
Usage should be twice a week for the next two weeks to control the condition. After this initial course of treatment Selsun should not be used more often than necessary. Not recommended for children under 5 years.
